My lovely readers and subscribers,
As always, I want to communicate clearly and honestly with you. After two weeks on Substack and some deep soul searching, I realized that I will better serve you (and me) by committing to one publication only. I didn’t want you to get confused since my original pub was named Shapeshifter and now you’ll be receiving Permission Slips. I wanted you to know it’s still ME! The reason for dropping Shapeshifter is that I realize it will take too much time away from my writing my memoir.
I’m excited for you to receive my Permission Slips in your inbox. They are very close to my heart and I can’t wait to share them with you in the next few days. If you feel inspired to stay, read on😊
Permission Slips newsletter comes from the heart
A few years ago I began writing Permission Slips (PS) for myself. My life was so busy that I literally needed to give myself permission to breaths, rest, and remind myself to set boundaries. These little reminders resulted in journals full of PS that I want to share with you, my lovelies. I continue to write them for myself and trust that they will uplift you as much as they have done for me.
2. The magic of the Slips
These PS are magical!
They seem to tap into a subconscious space where love abides and bring forth a deepened self-compassion. Also, by giving myself permission these PS empowered me to step out of the restrictive narrative that I had internalized and freed me from seeking external validation, being perfect, or meeting others’ endless expectations of me. Okay, okay, truth be told, I’m not 100% free of these, but I’ll take 96.8% and counting.
The gifts from the PS kept on coming - they fostered a deeper self-awareness, helped me live from my authentic voice, cultivated my kindness, and unlocked a courage to live more authentically and joyfully. And now I am gifting these all to you💕
If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is!
3. What will Permission Slips talk about?
I’ll post these PS mostly on Sundays and any other days that I feel inspired to share. Below are just a few of the spaces I’ll open in the PS, though don’t expect them to be so neatly categorized in the posts, they’ll be less structured, more fluid and dynamic :
Permission In Physical and Mental Health (doesn’t everything fall into this arena?)
Permission In Parenting
Permission In Career/Work
Permission In Creative Pursuits
Permission In Spiritual Journey
Permission In Everyday Life
and other spaces where I’ve needed to give myself permission in order to thrive or sometimes, given the situation, simply survive.
✨here’s the most important Permission Slip of all - LOVE YOURSELF : ps i love you✨
I love the idea of little reminders, what a wonderful name you gave them, looking forward to see more of your Permission Slips 🤩🥰
