Just three short months ago all of you didn’t exist, and here we are!
I was introduced to Substack through the wonderful coaching guru, Brooke Warner, with whom I took an amazing memoir writing course, thank you, Brooke! I don’t need to be asked twice to enter a space of creatives who share their most vulnerable selves on the page. I’m in! Here’s a brief intro, much more to come in my upcoming posts.
1. Why this, why now
After practicing plastic and reconstructive surgery for over two decades I retired my scalpel three years ago and shifted my path to Soul Surgery, supporting others to awaken to their truth and dive into self-discovery. I’ve been on my own path of awakening for the last 16+ years and continue exploring myself through writing memoir, which I began six months ago. Though I’ve been writing poetry since childhood, I soon learned that memoir is a whole other type of beast and the writing life is often a solitary one. Squeezing the biggest traumas of one’s life onto the page is not meant for the faint of heart!
I quickly realized that connecting with other creatives keeps me engaged and inspired in living creatively and staying connected to my writing process, especially in moments when it feels futile and dead-end-ish. Thank you all for being here with your stimulating posts, words, quirks, poems, and comments.🙏
2. Community I love to build
Here I am, a soul on a human journey - transforming, evolving, and shifting with every breath. My winding life path took me from speaking 3 languages by the time I was 9, to marrying and then birthing 5 beautiful humans, divorcing, and building a two and a half decade-long career as a Holistic Plastic Surgeon, where I created a surgical practice and Wellness Center.
Then three years ago I put down my scalpel to continue my journey as a Soul Surgeon. A patient of mine had said me “ I come for the Botox but I stay for the therapy. You’re not only a plastic surgeon, you’re a Soul Surgeon “ and the name stuck.
Simply put, I’m a midwife for your authentic self, supporting you in the self-discovery path of getting to know your essential self, beyond the egoically-conditioned mind.
If you don’t know how to get there, no worries, follow me here or DM me, we’ll do it together. You don’t have to do it alone.
The communities I create, in-person and online, are for all those who are heeding the call to shapeshift and wake up in their own lives, deepening the path of self-discovery. Find your path your way - whether through writing memoir, poetry, prose, creating art, photography, dance, baking a loaf, deep connection and conversation on this platform, or through punching a boxing bag at the gym and screaming into the abyss.
Remember, community is unity, the heart of support and opportunity!
3. What you can expect
Life taught me that the path of self-discovery is unique to each person. I call it a self-discovery buffet, consisting of introspective tools that support you on your individual path. I’ll post a myriad of musings about my own spiritual journey and my work as a Soul Surgeon - supporting others to transform, in addition I’ll share my personal life, excerpts of my memoir writing, wisdom gained from my career as a Holistic Plastic Surgeon, and how being a mother of 5 supports my spiritual practice and also in growing my gray hairs ( this could be its own blog). I will also offer daily contemplations to journal on or just chew on in your mind.
I hope you’ll stick around for this deep, messy, insightful, and at times downright funny spillover of spirituality from my mind to yours.
